Have fun & learn with science experiments!
Chemical Reaction Lab 1
Materials:
Graduated cylinder or narrow clear cup
Measuring spoons
Vinegar
Baking Soda
Latex Glove
Rubber Band
1. Place graduated cylinder on table.
2. Pour ¼ cup of vinegar into the
cylinder.
3. Measure 1 Tablespoon of Baking soda.
4. Pour measured baking soda in to the
glove holding the open part of the glove in your hands.
5. Carefully put the sleeve part of the
glove over the cylinder’s mouth without
spilling any of the baking soda into the beaker.
6. Use a rubber band to attach the glove
to the cylinder.
7. Take first observations: how much
liquid is in the cylinder? What is the touch temperature of the cylinder?
8. Gently lift the glove fingers up to
dump the baking soda into the beaker.
Let go of the glove.
9. Use your senses to observe what
happens next. Record your observations by writing them in your observation
chart.
10.
Clean
up your space & return the supplies.
Chemical
Reaction Lab 2
Materials: (I usually double or triple the amounts listed)
Beaker or clear cup
Hydrogen Peroxide
Dishwashing liquid
Yeast packet
For larger results double or triple amounts listed
1. Place beaker on a cleared or empty surface.
2. Add 20 ml of hydrogen peroxide in the
beaker.
3. Add 10 ml of dishwashing liquid in
the beaker.
4. Add 1 full package of yeast in the
beaker.
5. Record first observations: what is
the touch temperature of the beaker? What do you see?
6. After the reaction is complete, make
second observations: what is the touch temperature of the beaker? What do you see & smell?
7. Clean up your space & return the
supplies on their tray.
